WONGDOODY Wins Gold Effie Award for Horizon Air "Slog" Campaign

National Awards Program Recognizes Marketing Effectiveness, Results

SEATTLE - June 4, 2009 - Marketing ideas agency WONGDOODY last night secured a gold Effie Award for its offbeat Horizon Air campaign, "The Slog," at the Effie Awards Gala in New York. The agency won the top prize in the Transportation category.

Winners of the annual Effie Awards, which honor the most effective marketing campaigns in the United States, have proven their ability to reach the intended audience and deliver business results. As companies seek to make the most out of their marketing investment in today's economy, a campaign's ability to achieve its business goals is more crucial than ever.

WONGDOODY created "The Slog" to promote Horizon Air's Seattle-Portland Shuttle service. The "Lewis and Clark"-styled campaign, which recasts the Interstate-5's 200 miles of concrete and inconvenience between Seattle and Portland as a wretched covered wagon trail aptly named "The Slog," chronicles the struggles faced by those who choose to drive while highlighting the advantages of flying with Horizon.

Print, radio and online advertising drove consumers to a Web site (www.i-5slog.com) that featured video descriptions of infamous, unofficial landmarks drivers encounter along the Interstate-5 route, such as "Longblink Gulch" and the "Bridge of Heavy Sighs." "The Slog" campaign generated dramatic results, including a 19 percent passenger increase on Horizon Air's Seattle-Portland Shuttle service over the campaign period.
